Is Foreign Money Finally Turning Back Towards Indian Stocks?

For most of 2026 foreign investors pulled money out of India and chased AI stocks abroad. That trade is now cracking. The chip barometer, the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index, has fallen about 24 percent from its June peak, and markets in Korea and Japan have slumped sharply after leading earlier.

As that crowded bet unwinds, money is looking for cheaper homes. Analysts see India as a likely gainer, with foreign flows warming up towards autos, defence and energy. India had been left out of the AI frenzy, so its shares now look reasonably priced, and a steadier rupee with softer crude prices adds to the pull.

This brightens the August picture, but the shift is early and unproven. Some see only a short term unwind rather than a lasting move back to emerging markets. Earnings at home still need to improve and a US trade deal would help. So treat this as a hopeful turn, not a settled trend. Stay patient and diversified.
