What do we mean by rolling returns in mutual funds?

Rolling returns are simply returns for a given period. A 10 year rolling return on a given date is the annualised return from ten years prior, upto that date. This is a good way to measure and compare various funds on their performance across time periods.

As expected the rolling returns for direct plan mutual funds are always higher by upto 1.5% compared to regular plans.
