Are there any possibilities that the LTCG will be taken off in the future? What macro situations will the finance minster consider?

If you are a long term investor, then ideally this should not matter. Benjamin Franklin once said two things are certain – death and taxes!

The LTCG of 10% does not impact most people and also has an exemption of Rs 1 lakhs. This is because average equity folio size in India is about Rs 80,000.

I feel it is unlikely government will roll back this measure, anytime soon. If at all, they might increase the exemption limit to Rs 2 lakhs. This will keep almost 99% people out of the LTCG net. The Government might think that the remaining 1% can afford to pay the tax.
