Mutual funds give you a dividend (though you may call it ‘interest’ if you wish to compare it with an FD). Each mutual fund has its own calendar for paying out dividends. The amount of dividend paid out also varies, usually on a per unit basis, which translates a certain % of the issuing NAV.

If your intention is to grow money for long term, then go for growth plans and avoid dividend schemes.
