What are the best pension schemes to invest in (I can invest a max of 7k p.m. and target corpus 1.5 crore, horizon 28 years)?

The best way to get long term returns is to invest in long term equity mutual funds. For your numbers, the kind of return you are assuming is about 11% p.a. This is doable and you should be able to meet this target (see pic below).

However if you go through a broker, you will not meet this target and fall short by about 40 lakhs! This is because regular plan mutual funds lose trail commissions every year. Make sure your funds have the words “Direct Plan” in them.

If you invest with help of a good advisor who selects funds with no bias (SEBI Regd Advisor) then you may able to get close to 15% (average large cap fund returns over last 10 years). This will result in a corpus of 3.6 crores (see below).
