Will the financial markets have a sudden increase during the next election of 2019 like it happened in 2014?

The Indian markets did not do much in the first two years of Modi’s thumping victory in the 2014 elections. They did rise initially but then fell. The first two years did not see any returns.

See the first two annotations in the chart below showing the BSE Sensex over the last 4.5 years.

The major rise started about 2 years ago; even the ‘massive’ September-October correction is not a major dip compared to the distance the markets travelled.

Given this do not expect any major upheaval right after elections. The Indian markets are on a long term growth curve and expect more reforms after the elections are done.
