To avoid LTCG, should I redeem the present 5-year-old ELSS fund and reinvest again?

LTCG is only on gains made since 31 Jan 2018 and the markets haven’t made any gains in this period.

Assuming you have invested in regular plans and losing out on broker commissions, you can switch to direct. If your fund doesn’t have th word ‘Direct Plan’ in it, then do switch soon. You can send a mail to switch@jama.co.in and get help on switching over.
