Is it good to go for NPS if we exhaust Section 80C as compared to investing in a mutual fund non-ELSS?

You may consider National Pension Scheme (NPS) only for Section 80 CCD where Rs 50,000 investment is given additional tax benefit.

Beyond that it doesn’t make sense to invest in NPS. NPS has liquidity issues and some of the taxation elements when you start withdrawing in your post retirement years are not very friendly.

Hence it is better to keep away from NPS even for Section 80C benefits. ELSS Funds are much better for Section 80C.
