How does the given portfolio in a mutual fund look?

Your portfolio will be a collection of the mutual fund investments that you have made. Look for net returns, XIRR (or annualised gain). Here is a sample portfolio on Jama.co.in

If you are referring to the contents of a mutual fund holdings in stocks and bonds, you can check out the AMCs website. A sample:

  • Performance: Look for net returns, XIRR (or annualised gain).
  • Taxes: Avoid dividend schemes and exiting before 1 year in equity funds to avoid short term capital gains
  • Exit loads: Try to avoid exiting before the load period; however if the fund is not doing well then you may exit earlier
  • Risk: Check for volatility, concentration in an AMC and high exposure to under performing stocks.

Use a good portfolio tracking app to be on top of these numbers.
