Are the markets overvalued? Is it the correct time to invest for a long-term or should I wait for a crash?

Time in the market is superior to Timing the market.

Equity markets were at a high in January, definitely in the overvalued zone. Now they seem to be correcting, of late. Many stocks have fallen by more than 20% and the Nifty index itself has fallen by about 8% since January. Technically a correction is one, wherein the markets fall by at least 10%.

The long term expected returns on equity is about 15%. Long term is a time horizon of 7-10 years or more. It takes that much time for a business cycle to turn. In this period there will be peaks, valleys and lots of side ways movement.

The key is to stay invested in systematic plans. It will be an added kicker if you are ready when a correction happens to invest more.
