The actual value of an NAV is not very relevant. As you know it depicts the value of each Mutual Fund unit and is calculated based on the underlying stocks or bonds that it holds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A higher NAV doesn’t make mutual fund expensive. A lower NAV doesn’t make it cheaper. Yes new funds are launched with with a Rs 10 NAV but that is more of marketing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here is an optical illusion: A Regular Plan fund NAV is lower than direct plan Rs 48 vs 50). But direct plan grows from 50 to 100 i.e. 100% growth whereas regular grows from 48 to 93 which is only 94% growth. Both plans are of the same fund and grow over the same period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
